Man banned from teaching after he married 13-year-old girl, he met three days earlier

One teacher was banned from the classroom for life because he married a 13-year-old girl whom he had met three days earlier during his school's summer break.

Joshim Nur was 22 years old when he began teaching at the London Sea School in June 2006.

He claimed that he thought the girl was 18, but the panel saw a written statement from the girl who said she had written to the teacher and told him her age before her arranged marriage.

The panel in Coventry decided that from August 2006 to April 2009, the 34-year-old teacher may have had a relationship with the girl under which he should have known she was under 16 years old.

He married her in Bangladesh during the summer break immediately after he got his job at the school in London and had a sexual relationship with the child.

Three days before the wedding, the girl had written to Nur to tell him that she was 13 and in eighth grade at school, the panel heard.

The girl used to say that she had been the subject of a video of Nurse's father confirming the same details - and that she believed Nur had seen the video.

The panel said it agreed on their first complaint, police interview and the TRA procedure in their report - and they found their evidence convincing and credible. Only said in writing that he was "deceived" by her family in terms of his wife's age when she married.
