Unease In Ekiti As People Kick Against Fayose's N75m Lexux SUV Parting Gift

There is unease in Ekiti State about the approval and purchase of a 2018 Lexus LX 570 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) worth N75 million for governor Ayo Fayose as a "farewell gift."

The purchase causes government turmoil because the fear causes agents to be involved in the deal prior to the government change on October 16.

It was learned that the vehicle was bought about a month ago, but the Nation reporter saw the documents about the deal yesterday.

An official, who spoke confidently, described the deal as 'strange, suspicious and unheard' at a time when government employees and pensioners have arrears of salary.

A memo for the purchase of the vehicle came from the political and economic department of the governor's office via the office of the secretary of the state government (SSG).

The letter that allowed the purchase of the SUV was addressed to the SSG, Dr. Modupe Alade.

It was written by mr. Bayo Opeyemi, the executive secretary / director general, and dated 1 August.

The deal was approved by Fayose on the same day with his signature on the document.
