Police Arrest Fake SARS Personnel In FCT

On Wednesday, the FCT Police Command paraded a Tijani Omeka allegedly to pose as SARS personnel.

Police said the suspect, who is a taxi driver, operates inside Mararaba, in area 1 of the Abuja hub and extorts money from his victims.

On how he was captured, Deputy Commissioner in charge of the Department of Intelligence and Criminal Investigation, DCP Salisu Gyadi-Gyadi said he was arrested after police received a notice from some of those he had conned.

He said: "The Anti-One Chance Squadron on September 11, 2018, at 1500 hours that is acting with a warning, arrested a Tijani Omeka, a taxi driver who appears as an operative of the Special Anti-Theft Squadron (SARS).

"The suspect who often poses as Corporal Tijani to defraud the unsuspecting members of the public was arrested in Nyanya, Gwagwalape Phase 1 after a covert operation.

"We recovered from him a black face cap with the inscription SARS and a walkie-talkie."
For his part, Omeka said: "I found the walkie-talkie of the SARS facilities on the floor and the top belongs to one of the Operatives.

"The police are my friends and generally use my service every time they operate because I am a taxi driver.

"I traveled and the limit was with me for about three months because I was out of Abuja.I took the car to repair it with the intention of releasing the lid and the walkie-talkie after they fixed my car, but I was still in the mechanic when I they arrested. "
