800,000 People Commit Suicide Every Year- WHO report

Almost 800,000 people commit suicide every year. It is the second cause of death among people aged 15 to 29 in 2016, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO and the Mental Health Commission of Canada published on Monday a toolkit to help communities prevent suicides on the World Day for the Prevention of Suicide.

Suicides occur in all countries and regions, whether rich or poor. However, most of them occur in low and middle income countries, which accounted for almost four fifths of global suicides in 2016, according to the document.
