Student Who Scored 364 In JAMB, 9 Distinctions In WAEC Presented With N5m Cash

Borno governor Kashim Shettima awarded Israel Galadima a cash prize of $ 5 million for the highest score on the unified exam of 2018 (UTME).

Israel, a native of the local government district of Biu, in the southern part of Borno State, had a total score of 364 in the examination that had just ended and nine honors in its exam board. West in West Africa.

Shettima had previously promised Israel a full scholarship throughout his undergraduate studies when he hosted him and his family at Government House in Maiduguri to celebrate his achievement.

The Governor promised to give him N1 million to cover his annual tuition and other expenses during his university studies.

Presenting the check on behalf of the governor, Borno State Commissioner for Higher Education Usman Jaha urged the family of Israel to ensure that the money is used for the right purpose. He encouraged them to pay tuition fees rising future fees.

Israel has been admitted to Covenant University in Electronic Engineering.

Receiving the gift, his family congratulated the governor for his kind gesture.

"Governor Kashim Shettima was a university lecturer, very educated, very strong and visionary," Jaha said. "He is extremely passionate about education and we, from Borno State, know how he completely changes existing schools, modernizes them and builds many new schools."

The presentation was held at the Clerk's Office of Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State.

Also present were representatives of the students' family, the director of his high school, university officials and the Borno Liaison Office in Lagos.
