Footballer Shot Dead After Armed Gang Invaded Pitch During Match

A Mexican footballer was shot dead after an armed gang invaded an amateur match and fired more than 100 shots, the UK Sun reported.

According to local sources, the 20 men armed with rifles after the killing then kidnapped a fan after attempting to steal mobile phones and wallets. The gang then asked for Tepeaca number 9 before opening fire.

Horrible pictures show the footballer, who would be twenty, lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

He was declared dead on the scene.

Some 40 police officers arrived and investigators found more than 100 used bullets in the field. Local media also hinted that the gang had abducted a 19-year-old man as they emerged from the ground.

Authorities reportedly found the kidnapped teenager a few hours later on a nearby highway.

He told the police that the men had confused him with someone else and let him go when they understood.

According to police sources, the murder is linked to a confrontation that occurred the day before in a service station. This incident took place during an amateur football match in the city of Tochtepec, in the Mexican state of Puebla.

It is understood that no arrest has been made.
