FG Recognises Amaju Pinnick As NFF Chairman - Presidency

The presidency has recognized the leaders of the Nigeria Football Federation, led by Amaju Melvin Pinnick, as the true leaders of the federation.

The special assistant to the vice president of media and advertising, Laolu Akande, tweeted it on his Twitter account, @akandeoj, and explained that the federal government had already expressed its position to FIFA.

He said the government would continue to work with stakeholders to resolve the Federation's dispute in due course, adding that the government maintained the NFF treaty obligations to FIFA.

Akande wrote: "The FG has already given FIFA its firm position in recognizing the NFF, led by Amaju Pinnick, as the one and only exciting.

"The government will also continue to work with all relevant stakeholders to resolve disputes in a timely manner.

"The Federal Government respects the obligations of the NFF Treaty to FIFA."

FIFA, which denounced the government's interference in the leadership crisis, threatened to suspend the country on August 20 if "the NFF offices are not handed over to the legitimate executive committee of the NFF under Amaju Pinnick, who was duly elected on September 30, 2014 ".
