Court Sentences Father Of Seven To Death For Killing His Pregnant Wife Over N1000 In Akwa Ibom

The father of seven children, Friday Uko, was sentenced to death by hanging on Thursday for killing his wife, according to Harrison Essien, a reporter for Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation.

Uko, originally from Ikot Ossom, in the Obot Akara local government area in Akwa Ibom State, was sentenced this morning by a court of first instance in Ikot Ekpene on a murder charge.

On August 14, 2014, he allegedly kicked his three-month-old wife Patience because she removed N1000 from her husband's pocket and used it to prepare food for her seven children ( 6 girls and 1 boy). years.

In his judgment, the presiding judge, Judge Ntong Ntong, was concerned that a pregnant woman who should have been pampered and treated was killed by her own husband.

"The accused pushed her away knowing that she was pregnant and that he should know that a pregnant woman should be pampered and treated with love and not with violence," the judge said.

Judge Ntong added that "this case is simple: the accused told the court in his out-of-court statement that he had caused the death of his wife, and anyone who killed one illegally has the right to face the law.

"The accused pushed his wife with a pregnancy and she sounded an alarm and died instantly by showing the strength that the accused had exercised to push her down.I swore to interpret the law whatever the gored beef. "

He found Uko guilty and prayed to God to have pity on his soul.

The convict, whose lawyer was not present at the court, had pleaded for clemency to allow his children to take care of it.
