Arsenal Make Deadline-day Swoop For Croatia World Cup Star

Arsenal plans to make a last-minute attempt to sign Croatian defender Domagoj Vida before closing the transfer desk (Thursday).

Vida impressed by his performances at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia this summer, helping his country reach the final, where they were beaten 4-2 by France.

The players from Liverpool, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers have since been bound by a gesture for the 29-year-old, while his Besiktas club would be ready to let him go for a price of about 22 million pounds.

According to football.london, Arsenal had late talks with the Turkish giants about an agreement on an expiration day and agreed to respect the assessment of the central defender.

The report also said that Besiktas' president, Fikret Orman, was in London today to close the deal around 5pm.

Vida joined Besiktas in January of this year, leaving Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev for a free transfer.
