American Soldier Arrested In Imo State Over Alleged 419 Scam

Officers of the police's anti-theft special police brigade in Imo said they arrested a US military member, Mr. Garrick Michael, for alleged fraud over advance fees.

Police Commissioner Dasuki Galadanchi revealed this on Wednesday in Owerri, while presenting the suspect, Michael, and other suspects involved in various crimes ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping and trafficking, to reporters. children.

Galadanchi said that Michael was a US citizen who specialized in women's fraud with a huge amount of money on the pretext of getting a US visa for them.

He named the victims of suspect Sylva Chineyenwa, Wuchi Peace and Duny Glory.

Michael told the Nigerian news agency that he had returned to Nigeria to visit his wife who resided in the country before meeting with his three alleged victims.

He said his trade deal with women was still valid before his arrest.

The commissioner also said that a kidnapper who had been blacklisted by the police, a Reginald Durunzenwata, was arrested on 4 August and would soon be indicted by a court.

He added that the suspect was involved in the kidnapping and assassination of a businessman, Chidi Eburuaji, in Imo. Eburuaji was kidnapped and murdered in July.

Galadanchi said that in addition to the kidnappings, the suspect was also specialized in hijacking tankers.
