The immigrants were returned to their respective countries on Saturday and Sunday.

Amahian explained that the Command had embarked on the raid following complaints from members of the public about the alleged harmful activities of immigrants.

According to her, the majority of repatriated foreigners were transferred to Enugu from Anambra State, where they were reportedly dislodged in a recent search by the State Immigration Service.

"Most of them entered Enugu State because they saw it as a safe haven," she said, adding that some of them had committed violent crimes before being arrested. .

She also revealed that the Command was on the trail of other illegal immigrants who still reside in the state.

Amahian urged members of the public to provide the Immigration Service with useful information that could lead to the arrest and repatriation of illegal aliens who are still at large.

"We want to call on members of the public to always provide us with the information needed to help us get rid of these illegal immigrants," she said.

A leadership selection and profiling exercise led to the discovery of immigrants, according to Enugu's chief of immigration.

A Punch correspondent learned that some immigrants claimed to have lived in Nigeria for 20 years.

However, Amahian noted that although Nigeria would not chase foreigners from ECOWAS nations, these immigrants must obtain the necessary documents to be able to reside in the country.
