FRSC To Recruit 4,650 Personnel

Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi, Marshal Corps, Federal Highway Safety Corps, says the corps will recruit 4,650 additional officers and will procure new logistics vehicles to improve road safety management in the country.

Oyeyemi revealed this in an interview with the Nigerian news agency in Lagos on Sunday.

According to him, the body will use the best of road safety management in the second half of the year.

"For the second part of the year, we will do our best, deploy more resources and logistics because we know that the budget was signed by the president.

"We have started the process to inject more vehicles, patrol vehicles, ambulances and bicycles that will allow us to work more and strengthen our operations.

"We thank President Muhammadu Buhari for the additional funds allocated to the body.

"He has shown his passion for improving road safety management in the country over the past three years.

"In the coming months, we should be able to get all these items and we are also injecting additional staff of about 4,650 people into the system.

"This is unprecedented in the history of the body and we appreciate that of the president," he said.

The Corps Marshal said the FRSC was ready to justify what the government had done adding that the body would work hard to fulfill its mandate.

The FRSC chief stated that the body was working to have zero deaths on the road which was the main goal of the agency.

"We are still working to have zero fatality, which is our goal and we need to improve the records we have now, so that by the end of the year we will have a positive relationship," added Oyeyemi.
