Devastating floods in Delta State have sacked 63 communities and destroyed 43 homes in the past month.

Mr. Justus Okwogba Araya, president of the community who spoke to DAILY POST, said: "We need the intervention of the state government, we have nowhere to go, our crops destroyed, our homes destroyed, including our roads. "

But the state government, through the Commissioner of the Environment, John Nani, has pointed out that dredging Nana Creek would not only help fight floods, but also improve the transportation of water. water in the area.

He said, "the state government is committed to adopt proactive measures to combat the threat that some communities currently face the challenges are sad, but will open blocked drainage in the affected areas, it is unfortunate that the houses have been destroyed, and the inhabitants of the affected areas are being sacked, we will relocate them to suitable areas and intensify the proactive measures. "

The Commissioner expressed his optimism that the problems associated with the flooding in the area would be over after the dredging exercise.
