Drake's 'Scorpion' hit 1 Billion streams in a Week

Drake's new album, Scorpion, earned him a new record by becoming the first album to surpass 1 billion streams worldwide across all streaming platforms in a week.

Before Drake's feat, Post Malone's album Beerbongs & Bentleys previously had the world record with nearly 700 million feeds.

The Canadian rapper took to Instagram to celebrate the achievement. "New era, new platinum, thank you a thousand times (a billion more)," he writes.

According to Complex, Scorpion broke another Beerbong record (431.3 million) by accumulating more than 750 million streams in the United States in its first week. These numbers are expected to put Scorpion at the top of the Billboard 200 charts with an estimated 700 equivalent units of albums, which is less than the first week of Views but good enough to be the biggest for an album in 2018 .

Scorpion's "God's Plan" single is also the most-broadcast song of the year, with 1.121 billion streams, making it the only song to surpass one billion in 2018. The second most popular song of the year is Post Malone and Ty Dolla Sign's "Psycho" which has gained 576 million streams.
