Famous Fashion Designer Is Found Dead Inside Her Apartment

Fashion designer Kate Spade was found dead in her New York apartment, reports the BBC.

The police are investigating his death as an apparent suicide.

The 55-year-old woman was found dead in her Park Avenue apartment at 10:20 local time (3:20 pm BST) by her housekeeper, a police official said.

Kate Spade was known as a designer of clothes, shoes and jewelry, but was best known for her line of accessories. She co-founded Kate Spade Handbags in 1993 with her husband Andy Spade.

The company opened its first store in New York in 1996 and now has more than 300 branches around the world.

It is recognizable by its distinctive logo that presents the symbol of the game card of swords, in reference to the last name of the designer.

The company's bright and colorful patterned designs became a trademark of its products.

Kate Spade sold its homonymous brand in 2007.

It was purchased last year by rival designer New York Coach in an agreement valued at $ 2.4bn (£ 1.8bn).

Then, the couple set up another design company, Frances Valentine, named after one of their daughters.

Kate Spade legally changed her name to Kate Valentine's (Valentine was her grandfather's second name) to "separate the two worlds."

The New York Police Department confirmed his death under his first name, Katherine Noel Brosnahan.

The news of his death has led to many tributes to his work.
