Diarrhoea Kills Six people In Niger - Official

Dr. Yahaya Na'uzo, Executive Director of the Development Agency of Primary Health Care of the state of Niger, has confirmed the death of six of the 43 people suffering from diarrhea in three areas of the local government of the state.

In an interview with the Nigeria News Agency in Minna on Thursday, Na'uzo revealed that the outbreaks occurred in the Local Government Areas of Bida, Gbako and Katcha.

He said that the affected people were admitted to the General Bida Hospital and the Federal Medical Center, Bida.

"We want to advise especially those who live in rural areas to be hygienic in their environment and avoid drinking dirty water.

"They should immediately inform a nearby health center if they notice unusual changes in their body's system in order to prevent further deaths," he said.

He said the agency would collaborate with the affected areas of the local government to propose preventive measures against new outbreaks.
