Cholera Kills Three people In Kogi State

There was apprehension in parts of Lokoja, the capital of Kogi state, following the outbreak of cholera disease, which killed at least three people.

In addition, it was said that some people were admitted to the state specialized hospital, Lokoja, and in a private hospital in the state capital in new cases of the disease.

The outbreak was first noticed on Wednesday with people affected in the Kabawa native area of ​​the city with symptoms of cholera. According to community sources, people had shown signs of diarrhea and vomiting, which are the main symptoms of cholera.

Seventeen people suspected of having contracted the disease have already been included in the waiting list.

Confirming the development, the state commissioner for health, Dr. Saka Haruna, said that the death of three people had been confirmed because of the outbreak of cholera.

He added that of 17 suspected cases, nine were men, eight were women and mostly adults.
