'Boko Haram has no territorial hold anywhere In Nigeria Again – Buhari

Once again, President Buhari has said that the terrorist group Boko Haram has degraded and is no longer in control of any part of Nigeria.
The President said this in Abuja yesterday at the 2018 World Congress of the International Press Institute, which had the theme "Why good journalism is important". Addressing the participants in the Congress that he attended with ministers and other senior government officials, the President noted that the event takes place during a difficult period for the world.

"Its annual congress is held in Nigeria during a period of global terrorism, Nigeria is experiencing that scourge through Boko Haram, which has been technically degraded and no longer has territorial control anywhere in its northeast operating base," he said.

After years of fighting against the Boko Haram insurgents in the northeast, the federal government has limited attacks that spread to the nation's capital at the height of the insurgency. In addition to informing participants about the current state of the war against the insurgency in the country, the President provided an update on recent events in the Northeast.

"Internally displaced people are gradually returning to their communities with reasonable security," he said.
