The Abia police command has arrested members of three suspected child traffickers, who are peddlers of babies, including Gift Daniel, 17, who sold her two-day baby for $ 6,706.

In an interview with journalists, Daniel said she was forced to sell the baby due to financial difficulties. She said that her first baby, also a boy, was sold by her own mother after delivery, hence her determination to personally sell the second baby. .

"My mother sent me away from home, when I got pregnant for the second baby and due to financial difficulties, I started looking for someone to help me."

Daniel said that the woman who carried out the transaction gave him N50,000, Ngozi Nwaiwu, 38, while the nurse, Kate Charles, who helped her during the delivery, received N30,000.

However, Nwaiwu said he was trying to help Daniel, considering his plight. State Police Commissioner Anthony Ogbizi said the suspects were arrested by police officers in Osisioma Aba after receiving a warning, while efforts are made to arrest the buyer, Mrs. Maria and possibly recover the baby.
